NPC
NPC

‘‘Non Player Character’. These are game characters that are controlled by the computer, not other players. These include monsters, but monsters are usually classed separately from NPCs as they’re only for hunting.
Quest
Quest

Missions given by NPCs for rewards besides hunting. You’ll receive your reward when you meet all the mission requirements, but you’ll get nothing if you give up before finishing.
Item
Item

Could be anything in the game except for player characters, NPCs and monsters. Items generally include clothes, equipment, consumable items, loot from defeated monsters, and cash items.
Village
Village

Villages are "Peace Zones" free of monsters, where player characters can acquire new classes. Villages have equipment and potion shops, and are full of NPCs going about their daily business.
Field
Field

Refers to all areas populated by monsters where hunting is allowed. "Field" does not refer to a specific area, and is used mostly in combination with the names of villages/regions (the [village name] Field, for example).
Dungeon
Dungeon

Dungeons are special areas that demand heightened concentration while hunting. In general, dungeons have more powerful monsters than fields and are therefore suitable for higher-level characters. The WorldMap can’t be used inside dungeons, and appears to be more complex than fields.
Skill
Skill

Special skills are learned from the seniors in each job category after you advance in your chosen job. Skill Points allow characters to learn a wider variety of skills, and new skills can be learned with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th job advancements.
Meso
Meso

The in-game currency. You can use Mesos to purchase items at in-game shops and for transactions at private shops and trades.
GM
GM

Short for Game Master. GMs help players with problems. They manage fun events and answer questions, help resolve disputes, and deal with cheats and illegal game-playing.
Inventory
Inventory

A list of the items you own. Press Shortcut Key "I" to view items in your possession, or "E" to see which items are currently equipped on your character.
AP (Ability Points)
AP (Ability Points)

AP is used to attain STR, DEX, INT, LUK, MaxHP and MaxMP. You get 5 AP each time you level up.
SP (Skill Points)
SP (Skill Points)

SP allow you to improve your skills upon job advancement. You begin with 0 SP as a Beginner, and receive 1 SP upon getting a job as a Warrior, Magician, Bowman or Thief. You also get 3 SP for each level-up.
EXP (Experience Points)
EXP (Experience Points)

Measures how experienced your character is in MapleStory, EXP determines when you will level up. You get EXP for killing monsters and completing quests.
HP (Health Points)
HP (Health Points)

Indicates your character’s physical strength level. HP decreases when your character is under attack, or when using certain skills. Your character dies when your HP reaches 0.
MP (Mana Points)
MP (Mana Points)

Magical power needed to use magic skills.
STR
STR

Short for strength. Certain levels of STR are required to equip heavy weapons or armour. STR is the most important factor in determining a warrior’s attack power.
DEX
DEX

Dexterity. The higher your DEX, the higher your hit and dodge rates become. This is the most important factor in determining a bowman's attack power.
INT
INT

Intelligence. This is the most important factor in determining the magical power of a magician. The higher your INT is, the more likely your magical attacks will be successful. MP increases by a higher margin when you level up and AP is divided at Max MP.
LUK
LUK

Luck. This is the most important factor in determining a Thief's attack power and skill. The higher your LUK is, the higher your dodge rate becomes and the less EXP you lose when your character dies.
